Founded in 2014, the Australian Women Security Network Limited (AWSN) emerged as a beacon of empowerment in Australia's security landscape. More than just an organisation, AWSN serves as an open, inclusive network where over 2,800+ passionate individuals unite to foster the growth, retention, and empowerment of women in the security community. This mission is particularly vital in an industry where diversity of perspective is paramount to effectively combat the ever-evolving landscape of online threats.
Women and those who identify themselves as female make up half our population, however, the number of women working in security in Australia is low (with women in cybersecurity making up only 17%).
The AWSN is a not-for-profit association and network of people aimed at educating women and girls on security and increasing the number of women in the security community. We support, inspire, and act as role models. We connect women in the industry and those looking to enter the field with the tools, knowledge, network, and platforms needed to build confidence and interest. We know the diversity of threats requires diversity of thought on how to address them, and this is where our network thrives.
AWSN goes beyond conventional networking; we are deeply committed to creating awareness about the diverse and exciting roles available within the security industry. We prioritise collaborations with local Australian-based start-ups, and companies founded or operated by women.
